E.care started in Switzerland

E.care recently began its first implementation in Switzerland. Inselspital in Bern will be using E.care ED for the support of its emergency department as of January 2012. The Paediatric Department will later be added as a second site.

What makes this project so special is the attention that is paid to fully documenting announced patients (pre-hospital) and especially the timely circulation of information to the departments where the patient will end up after or during a stay at the emergency department (e.g. X-ray, ICU, etc.). For the first time, the "Echelle Suisse de Tri" will also be supported. This method, developed by the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève in collaboration with the CHUV of Lausanne is one of the triage systems recommended by the Société Suisse de Médecine d’Urgence et de Sauvetage (SSMUS). Translated in the three official languages (German,Italian, French) it is used in a lot of emergency departments in Switzerland.
