E.care in Klinikum am Steinenberg Reutlingen – "Alles auf einen Blick"

A new emergency service was opened in Klinikum am Steinenberg Reutlingen in June 2011 (approx. 35,000 patients a year). E.care ED was chosen as the supportive IT application. After several months, Dr. Z. Märkle, main physician of the department, describes the advantages experienced on a daily basis.

The preparations of this project took less than three months. The deadline was set and non-negotiable: E.care ED would be used from the opening of the new department. Dr. Z. Märkle describes the advantages as follows:

- "Everything at a single glance": maximum information on the cockpit screen

- Clear visualisation of the entire department through the digital map

- Fast passing on of tasks between the different professional groups

- Status of current examinations are always visible

- Due to the use of the smartcard, it is always correctly documented who carried out which observation or registration

- Complete coverage of the full stay at the department

- Possibility of working on one dossier with several people at once
